Almere, june 5th 2008 - The brand new Apollo Hotel Almere City Centre celebrated its official opening on Thursday June 5th. The hotel was opened in a spectacular way that can best be described as impressive. Amongst the attendees were a large number of stakeholders and corporations in Almere.
The modern architecture and interior design of Apollo Hotel Almere City Centre is perfectly in line with the progressive and futurisic style of the city Almere. The hotel is part of Apollo Hotels & Resorts, a leading formula in the international hotel industry. What connects the seperate entities with one another is the True Spirit of Local Hospitality. The hotel consists of 117 design rooms, a bar/lounge, meeting space and the trendy restaurant “Salada Samba, the new kitch’in town”.
Because the God Apollo is the inspiration of the hospitality-concept, the festivities had a Greek theme. Highlight of the official opening was the presence of Mrs. Annemarie Jorritsma, major of Almere, assisted by Mr. Alexandros Boudouris, secretary of Greece. To the sounds of a swinging samba band they presented the staff that was positioned in the “Apollo temple”. Following the official opening, the attendees enjoyed an informal Salada Samba dinner.
In response to the introduction mailing that was sent prior to the opening of the hotel on April 1st, many recipients updated their mailing address on the Apollo website. Maarten van Nigtevegt, General Manager, gave away a travelvoucher for 2 persons to Naxos, in cooperation with Globe Reisbureau Almere. The lucky winner of the voucher was Ms. Manuela Melkert from company KAO Brands.
Not only is the Apollo Hotel an asset to development of tourism and travel in the city Almere, but also a committed partner for other cultural initiatives in the city. One such cooperation was announced during the official opening: The Art Foundation of neighborhood “Filmwijk” Almere is rolling out their plans to develop the Lumièrepark into a park with a cultural image. Maarten van Nigtevegt, General Manager, announced that Apollo Hotel Almere is donating an “ Apollo Bench” made out of mosaic to be placed in the Lumièrepark. The donation was well received by Mrs. Yvonne Langerak, one of the founders of The Art Foundation of neighborhood “Filmwijk”.
