Antwerpen, December 16, 2021 – Fattal Hotel Group is one of the fastest growing hospitality businesses in Europe. On the European mainland, the group exploits under the flag of Leonardo Hotels. In 2018 the group took over the well-known Apollo Hotels. Leonardo Hotels expands in Belgium as well, by adding The Plaza Hotel Antwerpen to the portfolio. In the beginning of 2022, the name will change to Leonardo Hotel Antwerp the Plaza.

As a result of the takeover of The Plaza Hotel Antwerpen, the hotel chain takes a next step in her ambition to expand the Benelux portfolio even further. Despite the effects of COVID-19 on the travel and hospitality industry, Alexander Kluit, Managing Director Leonardo Hotels Benelux, decided to still move forward. Five Apollo Hotels in the Netherlands have been transformed into a Leonardo Hotel in the second half of 2021. Besides the strategic rebranding, a lot has been invested in the hotels over the past years. The Leonardo Hotel Antwerpen along the Keyserlei is fully renovated, the ground floor of Leonardo Royal Hotel Den Haag Promenade is being renovated at the moment and there are plans to expand and renovate Breda and Utrecht. The takeover of The Plaza Hotel Antwerpen can now be added to that. “Despite the heavy impact by the covid pandemic, we believe that we should keep investing to come out of this crisis stronger and to serve our guests even better” according to Kluit. “Our strategy is to grow in cities with hotels in the 3 and 4-star segment located on unique locations. Therefore, we are proud of the expansion with another beautiful hotel in Antwerp.”

LEONARDO HOTEL ANTWERP THE PLAZA

The Fattal Hotel Group brings with Leonardo Hotel's international allure to Belgium. For The Plaza Hotel Antwerpen a suiting rebranding, interior and unique concept is sought. In the beginning of 2022, the name will change to Leonardo Hotel Antwerp the Plaza. Besides, the lobby and ground floor will be renovated into an inspiring space that matches the high standards they want to offer their guests. The hotel will be managed by General Manager Mhammad Hach-Abdeselam, also accountable for the Leonardo Hotel Antwerpen. For the coming months, Abdeselam will mainly give input to steer the planned renovation in the right direction. Neudahm Hotel Interior Design from Wuppertal is chosen to design this. Andreas Neudahm has already designed many Leonardo Hotels. The official opening of the Leonardo Hotel Antwerp the Plaza will be celebrated mid next year.
