Papendrecht, 13 June 2012 - After months of construction and refurbishment, yesterday saw the spectacular reopening of Apollo Hotel Papendrecht! A new name, a new wing with 12 state-of-the-art meeting rooms and 87 spacious contemporary rooms. At 16.00 hours, the building was officially opened by Mayor De Bruin, Daan van der Vorm from VORM Bouw, Bas Tolmeijer and Marco van der Aa from Apollo Hotels.

The theme of the opening was the launch of the Apollo 8 rocket; with a press of the button an official welcome was given to the 8th hotel in the Apollo chain. "It has taken a lot of hard work to put the hotel back on the map. With this contemporary accommodation, we can offer special facilities aimed at pampered business travellers. The beautiful rooms are also suitable for weddings, parties and meals. Our unique roof terrace is perfect if guests wish their celebrations to extend outside of a private reception", says Marco van der Aa, General Manager. Not only do we have a totally new hotel product, but an unusual restaurant has also been developed: Chef's! Food & Drinks. This restaurant boasts an 'open kitchen concept' where we like to spoil both hotel guests and local guests with fresh, genuine local produce at surprisingly low prices!" The menu is in the form of a recipe book, which comprises dishes created by the chefs at Apollo, but Mayor of Papendrecht De Bruin and staff from the hotel chain also contributed to this book.

To bring Chef's! alive for the 'Kids' menu, children from the local area were asked to send in recipes. The winning dish will actually be included on the menu, with a photograph plus the method of preparation. During the open day, to take place next Saturday the 16th of June, the mini chef will then lend a helping hand to the chef at 'Chef's! Food & Drinks" and TV chef Rudolph van Veen.
