Groningen, 27 October 2021 – On October 26, Apollo Hotel Groningen changed its name to Leonardo Hotel Groningen and continues under the flag of Leonardo Hotels. While enjoying a typical regional specialty: the egg ball (eierbal), former Director of Patrimonium Auke de Vries officially opened the renewed hotel together with General Manager Bart Olinga. This rebranding is a part of the extended repositioning of all Apollo Hotels in The Netherlands

In 2021 and 2022, the Apollo Hotels will be rebranded as Leonardo Hotels, which are operated by the Fattal Hotel Group. This is one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in Europe. The process was temporarily halted last year due to the international impact of Covid-19 but is now continuing. This will allow the hotels to benefit from the strength of the Leonardo brand.

With Leonardo Hotels, Fattal Hotel Group brings international allure and a matching image to the Netherlands. For each hotel an appropriate rebranding, interior design and unique concept is sought.

Leonardo Hotel Groningen

Leonardo Hotel Groningen is located near Martini Plaza at the edge of the city centre. The industrial and quirky look makes the hotel radiate as much boldness and energy as the city itself. In the Leonardo Hotel Groningen you will find restaurant Chef’s! Food & Drinks with a stunning view over the city. “At Chef’s! we stand for: Open Kitchen, No Secrets.” As said by General Manager Bart Olinga. “We do not believe in kitchen secrets and a classic kitchen brigade. You can have a look into our open kitchen, where we tell you passionately about the way our dishes are being made. And, as a finishing touch to give you the best experience, your dish will be served by a real chef!”

Bart is happy that after all preparations of the last few months, the red letters of Leonardo Hotels colour the skyline of Groningen. “This will make us stronger as a brand and will allow us to benefit from the great brand awareness of Leonardo Hotels for example Germany and the UK.” Despite the transformation into an international name, Bart will guarantee the same personal service and Groningen’s hospitality as before.

In 2018, the management of Apollo Hotels decided to sell the chain. Fattal Hotel Group was looking for growth opportunities in the Dutch market and took over the well-known hotel chain. Fattal Hotel Group has decided to expand their now well-known brand in Europe, Leonardo Hotels. The rebranding of the hotels is in full swing. Apollo Hotel Vinkeveen-Amsterdam is expected to rebrand this winter.
