Amsterdam, 06 January 2010 – The New Year signals a new milestone in the Amsterdam Apollo Hotel’s almost 50 year history: as from 1 January the hotel is proudly flying the flag of the world’s largest franchise organisation: Wyndham Hotel Group.

Business Area Manager Alexander Kluit proudly calls the choice for this American chain a winning stroke: “The US is one of our capital region’s key target markets. Joining forces with Wyndham means fantastic potential in terms of business travellers and tourists.”

Apollo Hotels & Resorts management is likewise thrilled about the new alliance. The group acquired the Amsterdam hotel in 2006. “The Apollo Hotel is rightfully a flagship of our enterprise. The considerable investment in facilities and service that we have made over the past few years justifies a subtle positioning in a higher segment. We are proud that Wyndham has chosen our hotel as the first to carry its name in continental Europe,” says Managing Director Francesco Monaco.

According to Alexander Kluit the new Wyndham Apollo Hotel Amsterdam is about to enter the next upgrading phase: “The public areas will be completely redesigned, with the focus on ‘unique experience’. We will also look into opportunities for expansion and implement a Chill Out Spa concept.” 

The hotel currently has 223 rooms and suites, the restaurant La Sirène for fine dining, conference and banquet halls to accommodate up to 500 guests, a lobby bar, a cigar lounge and a marina.
